About the event

Partnering with Workplace Pride for the first time, we are pleased to bring together professionals to discuss Asian LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace at our inaugural Asian Pride & Workplace Pride Symposium. The event will kick-off with a keynote speech by H.E. Mr. Asi Mamanee, Ambassador of Thailand to the Netherlands, followed by two panel discussions which will explore how we can strengthen inclusion and understand Asian perspectives towards workplace inclusivity. The afternoon will end with a networking session.
Our goals are to:
Bring together practitioners and professionals who are passionate about LGBTIQ+ inclusion in the workplace.
Share insights throughout our network especially at a time when LGBTIQ+ identities and fundamental rights are challenged.
Spotlight Asian LGBTIQ+ experiences within a work setting to identify ongoing and upcoming challenges and working together to address them.

Panel 1 - Asian Wisdom: Alternative Approaches to LGBTIQ+ Inclusion
This session explores how cultural values and social norms in various Asian countries shape unique approaches to LGBTIQ+ workplace inclusion. Panelists will share insights and strategies rooted in local wisdom, offering alternative models that challenge Western-centric narratives. By highlighting regional successes and adaptive practices, we aim to spark cross-cultural learning and inspire new ways to advance inclusion in the workplace in Western contexts.

Panel 2 - Progress in Motion: Wins and Woes in APAC Inclusion
How do LGBTIQ+ Asians experience the world of work? What do LGBTIQ+ Asians carry as they settle in other societies? How do concepts of achievement, success, and even failure manifest across continents? In this session, we're going to focus on the "Queer Asian Experience" within the workplace. We'll explore how these identities affect and shift relationships between co-workers, managers, themselves, and their families. At the end of this session, our goal is to better contextualize Queer Asian experiences in the workplace and to find new (or renewed) approaches to more positive outcomes in the workplace.
We will also be introducing the POC Community and INCO, come find out more about them.
This is an in-person event with an option to join online. We do encourage you to join us in-person for more interactions.
